Healthy Hobart Goes Dark

If you’ve ever used ‘it’s too cold and dark’ as a reason to not exercise… sorry. The research tells us that the dark and cold weather does stop people exercising so, along with the City of Hobart, we thought we’d have a crack as fixing that. Healthy Hobart Goes Dark will bounce off the exuberance of the Dark Mofo festival.
There are 18 unique and innovative sessions all happening in Hobart’s parks and facilities including Puffer Jacket Yoga, Discosize and Medieval Games. The program all begins with a Quidditch session starting on Friday the 15th June 4.30pm at Parliament Lawns.

This Project was funded by the Healthy Tasmania Community Innovations Grants through the Tasmanian Government.

Healthy Shed

Nothing like fixing up a shed eh? We’re taking our tools to Ravenswood to ‘activate’ the recently established Men’s and Community Shed (MACS). Through Healthy Shed we will support the group to reduce unhealthy habits like inactivity, smoking and food choices, plus we’ll focus on their connection to mental health.

Healthy George Town

George Town is moving into ‘position’; on your marks, get set, go (almost)! We are excited to be supporting the George Town Council to develop a ‘Position Paper’ about developing a community-wide health and wellbeing project. Work done previously tells us about the need for this type of initiative in the rural community so we are ready and waiting to get ‘Healthy George Town’ funded, developed and delivered. Stay tuned.
